A is a physical point - the end of a knife, the top of a mountain, the tip of your nose. A is an abstract or written one. Get that pair straight early, because both look like English "point" and the wrong one reads as gibberish. The root gives pinta for pointed, i for to sharpen and pintĉapelo for the conical hat every Esperanto fairy-tale witch wears. Nothing to do with , to paint, despite the near miss in spelling.
