is plus --, the suffix for a person defined by what they do. The verb underneath matters: is to take by force, so a holds you up. Stealth is a different root, , giving o for a thief who would rather you never noticed. English blurs the two and Esperanto does not. The word turns up constantly in the older translated literature, where forests are full of them, which is a fair part of why it sits so high in the frequency list.
