Three slots to keep straight. The person punished is the object and takes -n; the offence goes in with pro; the penalty itself goes in with per. So per pro puts all three in one sentence. Puno is a punishment, punlaboro is hard labour, and senpuna describes the offender who got away with it. Esperanto has no separate verb for fining someone, so per does that work too.
