Word origin
From Latin rebellare, 'to make war again', built from re- and bellum, 'war'. The Romans coined it for defeated peoples who took up arms a second time, and the second time is still faintly audible in the word.

The Latin inside is - plus bellum, war again, but none of that survives as Esperanto word building. The root arrived as ribel-, one piece, with the vowel already shifted, and it will not decompose: Esperanto's own - is a live prefix meaning "again", and means beautiful, so any attempt to parse the word from the inside produces nonsense. Take it whole.
It is intransitive and it takes for the thing being rebelled against: , . There is no accusative object. The noun is a rebellion or a revolt, o is a rebel, and is the adjective, so is a rebellious youth.
Against its neighbours: is the rising, the act of refusing to obey, and it can fail. Revolucio is the thing that succeeds and changes the system, and it is the bigger word. also works at ordinary human scale, where would be absurd, and that is most of its everyday use: teenagers, employees and stomachs all .
