whip
Word origin
Germanic. English whip, German wippen ('to bob, to rock') and Dutch wippen all belong to one family built on the idea of a quick flicking movement, and Esperanto took the root from that family rather than from Latin.

One root, two letters of trouble. is three sounds and reads as though it might be plus the preposition , which is a real word - distributes a quantity, is two apiece. It is not that. is a single Germanic root and the resemblance is pure accident; there is no rule by which a pronoun and a preposition would fuse into a noun anyway.
Using it. Vipi is to whip, vipbato a lash (the blow itself), o is not needed because is already the instrument. The figurative senses English reaches for - a whipping in an election, whipped cream - do not come with the root: cream is kirlita , beaten cream, and a political defeat is just o.
