Adjective agreement
Adjectives agree with the noun for gender and number. The feminine endings (-e default, -se, -lle, -nne, -ve, -ere), the plural rules, and the BAGS-set adjectives that go before the noun.
The short version
Bridge the vowel: bel, vieil, nouvel
Beau, vieux and nouveau grow a third masculine form before a vowel or silent h: bel, vieil, nouvel. Un beau garçon, but un bel homme. It is the same instinct that gives you cet rather than ce, and skipping it is the fastest way to sound like you started last week.
