, Dubois . l' . "J' ," --. " ' . ." Clara Dubois. .

This morning, Mr Dubois comes into the office. He looks serious. "I have something to tell you," he begins. "There is only one spot left on the new team. Just one." Clara looks at Dubois. She has been waiting for this moment for weeks.

" ?" --. . Clara , ' : . ', Marc .

"Who wants this position?" he asks. Nobody speaks. Clara says nothing, but she thinks of only one thing: this job is for her. Next to her, Marc wants the spot too.

Dubois . " ' ," -. "Celle ." Clara . ' . , .

Dubois looks at everyone. "I'll give this position to only one person," he says. "The one who really wants it." Clara understands. There is only a moment left to speak. If she says nothing now, she loses everything.

Clara ' . ", ," -. " ' : . , ' ." . Marc .

So Clara waits no longer. "I want this position," she says. "I'm only asking for one thing: a chance. I already know the job, and I'm not afraid." Her voice is clear. Marc still says nothing.

" , Marc ?" Dubois. Marc . " ," -. " Clara . ." .

"And you, Marc?" asks Dubois. Marc thinks for a moment. "I'd like this position," he says. "But Clara wants it more than I do. You can see it." He says only the truth.

"," Dubois. " Clara. ' : !" Clara heureuse. ' ' : .

"Right," says Dubois. "The position is Clara's. I've only one thing left to say: to work!" Clara is happy. She has only one desire: to start right away.

, Clara appelle Lucie . " ' ' , l' ," -. " ' , ." Lucie . " ? ' ' ."

In the evening, Clara phones Lucie. "I had only one chance, and I took it," she says. "There was only one spot left, and it's mine." Lucie laughs. "See? You didn't need to be afraid."

Clara . . . , . , Clara ' ' .

Clara puts down the phone. The night is clear. Nothing is left of her fear. Tomorrow, a new job begins. This time, Clara knows she is no longer afraid of anything.
