deʁɑ̃ʒe
Translation
to disturb; to bother
Word origin
From Old French desrengier, a compound of des- ('un-, reverse of') and rengier ('to put in a row, arrange'), the source of ranger. To disturb is literally to knock things out of their row; rengier itself comes from Frankish hring ('ring, circle'), which is also the root of English range and rank.
