Moitie est un nom feminin designant la moitie (half) d'un tout. La moitie de + nom exprime la fraction. A moitie (half, halfway) est une locution adverbiale : a moitie fait (half-done). Sa moitie designe familierement le conjoint ou la conjointe (one's better half).
Moitie-moitie (fifty-fifty) exprime un partage egal. A mi-chemin et a la moitie du chemin ont le meme sens de mi-parcours. Partager en deux moitiees (to split in half) est la construction avec le verbe. Demi est l'adjectif correspondant.
