est polysémique : nom féminin (la mort = death), adjectif (mort/morte = dead), et participe passé de mourir. La mort est le seul nom féminin dans cette liste. Les locutions à mort (to death, intensely) et mort de rire (literally dead with laughter - very funny) illustrent les emplois expressifs.
Mort-né (stillborn, doomed from the start), mort-vivant (zombie, undead), Fête des morts (Day of the Dead) - mort compose de nombreux mots. En avoir à mort de quelque chose (to be fed up to death with something) est très familier. Faire le mort (to play dead, to lie low) est une expression idiomatique.
