When is it, what time is it, and is it raining? Again.

Why these go together

Telling the time and giving the date come up in almost every conversation. The weather comes up in every conversation in Britain.

  • Che giorno è oggi? Oggi è martedì.

    What day is it today? Today is Tuesday.

  • Il mio compleanno è il venti marzo.

    My birthday is on the twentieth of March.

  • A che ora comincia la lezione?

    What time does the lesson start?

  • Comincia alle due del pomeriggio.

    It starts at two in the afternoon.

  • Sono le otto e un quarto.

    It's a quarter past eight.

  • È l'una e mezza.

    It's half past one.

  • Il treno parte alle dieci meno un quarto.

    The train leaves at a quarter to ten.

  • Lunedì mattina ho matematica.

    On Monday morning I have maths.

  • Ogni lunedì vado in piscina.

    Every Monday I go to the pool.

  • Oggi fa freddissimo e c'è la neve.

    It's freezing today and there's snow.
