Commodum, commodi, n., second declension: the neuter of the adjective commodus, "fitting, convenient", promoted to a noun in its own right. "Commodo tuo" means at your convenience and "commodo rei publicae" in the interest of the state. In the plural, commoda are perks and entitlements, including the grants a discharged soldier expected.
The corpus form comodo, with one m, is a medieval scribe's spelling rather than a different word; single and double consonants wander freely in manuscripts. Do not confuse the noun with the adverb commodum, "just now, at exactly the right moment", which is the same neuter accusative doing a different job. English commodity, accommodate and commodious all descend from the adjective.
