Litus, litoris, n., third declension. One t is the classical spelling; this corpus frequently doubles it as littus, littore, littora, which is a medieval habit rather than a different word. Keep it clear of littera, "letter", which genuinely does have two.
Latin sorts out three things English calls the same: litus is the strip where sea meets land, ora is the coastline seen from a distance, and ripa is the bank of a river. Poets like the neuter plural litora for a coast in general, so litora Italiae is one coastline, not several beaches. English took littoral from it, but French côte and Spanish costa come from costa, "rib", instead.
