Octo is indeclinable. Latin declines only unus, duo and tres among the cardinals, plus the hundreds from ducenti upwards; everything from quattuor to centum sits there unchanged whatever case the noun is in. So octo militum, octo militibus and octo milites all keep octo.

The derived forms do change. The ordinal is octavus, "eighth", which is a normal first and second declension adjective and gives English octave and the name Octavius. The distributive is octoni, "eight each", and the numeral adverb is octiens, "eight times". Remember that the Roman year originally began in March, which is why October is the eighth month and not the tenth; the name survived the calendar reform and has embarrassed schoolchildren ever since.
