Prex, precis, f. Third declension, and defective. The nominative singular is barely attested, so the entry is conventional rather than something you will meet; in practice the word lives in the plural, preces, precum, precibus, with the ablative singular prece turning up in verse.
Treat "prayers" as the default and you will rarely be wrong, but the word is not confined to gods. Preces addressed to a king are a petition, and preces to a magistrate a formal request, so the register is "entreaty from below" rather than anything specifically religious. The verb is precor, precari, deponent. The family gives pray, prayer, deprecate and precarious, which means held only at someone else's pleasure, on request.
