quicumque

Quicumque, quaecumque, quodcumque: the relative qui with the fixed suffix -cumque bolted on. Only the front half declines, so you get quocumque, cuiuscumque, quibuscumque, and the ending never changes. It is the general relative, "whoever, whatever, any whatsoever".

Two habits to acquire. Classical Latin puts the indicative in a quicumque clause where English feels a subjunctive coming on: quodcumque dixit, not dixerit, unless something else in the sentence demands it. And the spelling -cunque is as common in manuscripts as -cumque, this corpus included; they are one word. Written as one, quocumque also serves as an adverb, "to whatever place". English keeps the pattern in whosoever and whatsoever, which are the same construction made of Germanic parts.
