Rus, ruris is third declension neuter, and it behaves like the names of towns rather than like an ordinary noun of place. Motion towards is plain accusative, rus eo; place where is the locative ruri; motion from is plain ablative, rure. No preposition on any of them. Put in or ad in front and you have marked yourself as a beginner.
Singular rus is the countryside as an idea or a single estate; the plural rura means fields and open country. The adjective is rusticus, which gives English rustic and, through a long slide in tone, rural, rusticate and rube. Do not confuse it with ruo, "I rush headlong", or with the unrelated ros, roris, "dew", whose forms look close in a hurried reading.
