绝对 (jué duì) means absolute or absolutely. As an adverb it reinforces the certainty or totality of a statement (绝对不行, absolutely not acceptable; 绝对正确, absolutely correct). As an adjective it describes something unconditional or complete (绝对权力, absolute power; 绝对值, absolute value in mathematics). It is stronger than 一定 (yī dìng, definitely) and 肯定 (kěn dìng, certainly), and carries a sense of finality.
