El primer día de trabajo

Story

Hoy es un día importante para Ana. Es su primer día de trabajo. Ana llega a la oficina muy pronto. Tiene un poco de miedo. No conoce a nadie aquí y no sabe cómo se hacen las cosas.

Today is an important day for Ana. It is her first day at work. Ana arrives at the office very early. She is a little afraid. She does not know anyone here and does not know how things are done.

Una mujer amable llega a la puerta. "Hola, soy Carmen," le dice. "Trabajo aquí y te voy a ayudar. Me alegra mucho tenerte aquí." Carmen le da la mano a Ana. "Ven conmigo."

A kind woman arrives at the door. "Hello, I am Carmen," she says to her. "I work here and I am going to help you. I am very glad to have you here." Carmen shakes Ana's hand. "Come with me."

Van juntas por la oficina. Ana conoce al equipo. Hay dos hombres y una mujer. Todos son amables. "Aquí está tu mesa," dice Carmen. "Este es tu trabajo de hoy." Le da unos papeles.

They go through the office together. Ana meets the team. There are two men and a woman. Everyone is kind. "Here is your desk," Carmen says. "This is your work for today." She gives her some papers.

Ana quiere hacer todo bien. Mira los papeles, pero no entiende una cosa. Tiene miedo de preguntar. Entonces pone los papeles en la mesa de un hombre. Pero es un error. No son para él.

Ana wants to do everything well. She looks at the papers, but she does not understand one thing. She is afraid to ask. So she puts the papers on a man's desk. But it is a mistake. They are not for him.

El hombre mira los papeles. "Estos no son míos," le dice. Ana no sabe qué decir. "Lo siento," dice. "No sé cómo se hacen las cosas aquí."

The man looks at the papers. "These are not mine," he says to her. Ana does not know what to say. "I am sorry," she says. "I do not know how things are done here."

El hombre es amable. "No pasa nada," le dice. "El primer día siempre es difícil. Yo te ayudo." Le dice cómo hacer el trabajo. Ahora Ana entiende. "Gracias," dice Ana. Ya está más tranquila.

The man is kind. "It is nothing," he says. "The first day is always hard. I will help you." He tells her how to do the work. Now Ana understands. "Thank you," Ana says. She is calmer now.

Ana trabaja toda la mañana. Hace su trabajo bien. A veces pregunta cuando no entiende algo, y la gente siempre le ayuda. No es tan difícil.

Ana works all morning. She does her work well. Sometimes she asks when she does not understand something, and the people always help her. It is not so hard.

Por la tarde, Carmen viene a su mesa. "Buen trabajo hoy, Ana," le dice. "Me alegra tenerte en el equipo." Ana está muy feliz. Su primer día no fue fácil, pero ahora sabe que puede hacer este trabajo. Y sabe que aquí la gente es buena.

In the afternoon, Carmen comes to her desk. "Good work today, Ana," she says. "I am glad to have you on the team." Ana is very happy. Her first day was not easy, but now she knows she can do this job. And she knows that the people here are good.

Ana va a casa. Está feliz. Mañana es otro día de trabajo, y ya no tiene miedo.

Ana goes home. She is happy. Tomorrow is another day of work, and she is no longer afraid.
