La llamada

Story

Es de noche. Ana está en su casa, sola. Quiere hablar con una amiga. Toma el teléfono y llama a Carmen. Carmen es una amiga vieja. Hace mucho tiempo que no hablan.

It is night. Ana is at home, alone. She wants to talk to a friend. She picks up the phone and calls Carmen. Carmen is an old friend. They have not talked for a long time.

Carmen oye el teléfono. Oye la voz de Ana y se alegra mucho. "¡Ana! ¿Eres tú? ¡Cuánto tiempo!", dice Carmen. "Sí, soy yo", dice Ana. Las dos se alegran.

Carmen hears the phone. She hears Ana's voice and is very glad. "Ana! Is that you? It has been so long!" says Carmen. "Yes, it is me," says Ana. The two of them are happy.

"¿Cómo estás?", pregunta Ana. "Muy bien", dice Carmen. "Tengo algo que decirte. Mi hija ya es grande. La semana pasada fue su boda." "¡Qué bueno!", dice Ana. "Me alegro mucho por ti."

"How are you?" Ana asks. "Very well," says Carmen. "I have something to tell you. My daughter is grown up now. Last week was her wedding." "How lovely!" says Ana. "I am so happy for you."

Carmen habla de su familia. Su hijo vive lejos, en otra ciudad. Ana la escucha bien. Le gusta oír a su amiga. Carmen también pregunta por la familia de Ana. Ana dice que su madre está bien.

Carmen talks about her family. Her son lives far away, in another city. Ana listens closely. She loves hearing her friend. Carmen also asks about Ana's family. Ana says that her mother is well.

Las dos amigas recuerdan el pasado. "¿Recuerdas la escuela?", dice Ana. "Sí, éramos jóvenes", dice Carmen. "Qué tiempos." Tienen muchos recuerdos juntas. Ana tiene una foto vieja de las dos. La mira y se pone feliz.

The two friends remember the past. "Do you remember school?" says Ana. "Yes, we were young," says Carmen. "What times those were." They have many memories together. Ana has an old photo of the two of them. She looks at it and feels happy.

Ana recuerda los días en la escuela. Las dos iban juntas a clase. Hablaban de todo. Ahora tienen hijos, casa y trabajo, pero el tiempo pasa y la amiga es la misma.

"Tenemos que vernos", dice Ana. "Hace años que no te veo. Quiero verte." "Sí", dice Carmen. "¿Por qué no tomamos un café juntas?" "¡Sí! La próxima semana", dice Ana.

"We have to see each other," says Ana. "I have not seen you in years. I want to see you." "Yes," says Carmen. "Why do we not have a coffee together?" "Yes! Next week," says Ana.

Hablan un rato más. Después, las dos se dicen adiós. Ana deja el teléfono. Está feliz. Fue una buena llamada. Ahora tiene un plan: ver a su amiga vieja muy pronto.

They talk a while longer. Then the two of them say goodbye. Ana puts down the phone. She is happy. It was a good call. Now she has a plan: to see her old friend very soon.
