Lo que dijo el médico

Story

Paula va al médico. Está un poco preocupada. Desde hace una semana le duele la cabeza y no duerme bien. El doctor Vargas la espera. "Buenos días, Paula. Siéntese, por favor. ¿Qué le pasa?" Paula le dice que le duele mucho la cabeza, que está muy cansada y que no puede dormir por la noche.

Paula goes to the doctor. She is a little worried. For a week her head has been hurting and she isn't sleeping well. Doctor Vargas is waiting for her. "Good morning, Paula. Sit down, please. What's the matter?" Paula tells him that her head hurts a lot, that she is very tired and that she can't sleep at night.

El médico le pregunta muchas cosas. Le pregunta si come bien, si trabaja demasiado, si duerme por la noche. Paula le habla de todo. Después de un rato, el doctor habla claramente y con calma.

The doctor asks her many things. He asks her whether she eats well, whether she works too much, whether she sleeps at night. Paula tells him everything. After a while, the doctor speaks clearly and calmly.

"No es nada grave, Paula. Usted trabaja demasiado y descansa muy poco. Tiene que dormir más y comer mejor. Le voy a dar algo para el dolor de cabeza, pero lo más importante es el descanso." Paula se siente mejor solo con oír esto.

"It's nothing serious, Paula. You work too much and rest very little. You have to sleep more and eat better. I'm going to give you something for the headache, but the most important thing is rest." Paula feels better just hearing this.

Paula vuelve a casa. Su madre la espera en la puerta, preocupada. "¿Qué te dijo el médico, hija?" Paula le cuenta todo lo que dijo el doctor. Le dice que no era nada grave. Le dice que el médico le preguntó si dormía bien y si comía bien. Le dice que el doctor le dijo que trabajaba demasiado y que tenía que descansar más.

Paula goes back home. Her mother is waiting for her at the door, worried. "What did the doctor tell you, dear?" Paula tells her everything the doctor said. She tells her it was nothing serious. She tells her that the doctor asked whether she slept well and whether she ate well. She tells her that the doctor said she was working too much and that she had to rest more.

"El médico me dijo que durmiera más y que comiera mejor", dice Paula. "Me preguntó por qué no venía antes. Me dijo que no me preocupara, que no era grave." La madre la escucha con calma. Le pregunta si le dio algo para el dolor. Paula dice que sí, que el doctor le dio algo para la cabeza.

"The doctor told me to sleep more and eat better," says Paula. "He asked me why I hadn't come sooner. He told me not to worry, that it wasn't serious." The mother listens to her calmly. She asks her whether he gave her something for the pain. Paula says yes, that the doctor gave her something for her head.

Esa noche, Paula come bien y se va a la cama temprano. Por primera vez en una semana, duerme toda la noche. Por la mañana, su madre le pregunta cómo está. "Mejor", dice Paula. "Mucho mejor. El médico tenía razón. Solo necesitaba descansar."

That night, Paula eats well and goes to bed early. For the first time in a week, she sleeps all night. In the morning, her mother asks how she is. "Better," says Paula. "Much better. The doctor was right. I just needed to rest."
