Una mañana en el mercado

Story

Es muy pronto por la mañana. La luz del sol llega ahora a la ciudad. María sale de casa. Hoy quiere comprar comida para el día. Anda por la calle poco a poco.

It is very early in the morning. The light of the sun reaches the city now. María leaves the house. Today she wants to buy food for the day. She walks down the street little by little.

En la calle hay muchos puestos. Hay mucha gente. Todos hablan. Una mujer tiene café. Un hombre joven tiene comida. Todo es nuevo cada mañana, y a María le gusta mucho.

On the street there are many stalls. There are a lot of people. Everyone is talking. A woman has coffee. A young man has food. Everything is new each morning, and María likes it a lot.

En un puesto hay un señor. Es un señor con una cara buena. "¡Hola!", dice María. "¡Hola! ¿Qué quieres?", dice el señor. María mira la comida. Le gusta mucho.

At one stall there is a man. He is a man with a kind face. "Hello!", says María. "Hello! What do you want?", says the man. María looks at the food. She likes it a lot.

"Quiero un poco de esto, y también un poco de esto", dice ella. El señor pone la comida en la mano de María. "Aquí tienes", dice.

"I want a little of this, and also a little of this", she says. The man puts the food in María's hand. "Here you go", he says.

"¿Es mucho dinero?", pregunta María. "No, es poco", dice el señor. Ella paga y le da el dinero. "Gracias a ti. Eres muy amable", dice el señor.

"Is it a lot of money?", asks María. "No, it is little", says the man. She pays and gives him the money. "Thank you. You are very kind", says the man.

Después María va a otro puesto. Aquí una señora joven tiene café. "Un café, por favor", dice María. La señora le da un café. Está muy bueno.

Afterwards María goes to another stall. Here a young woman has coffee. "A coffee, please", says María. The woman gives her a coffee. It is very good.

María toma el café cerca de una mesa pequeña. Mira a la gente de la ciudad. Todo está tranquilo ahora. Hace sol. El aire es bueno. María siente que la mañana es bonita.

María drinks the coffee near a small table. She looks at the people of the city. Everything is calm now. It is sunny. The air is good. María feels that the morning is beautiful.

Una amiga viene. Se llama Lucía. "¡Hola, María!", dice Lucía. Las dos hablan un poco. María conoce a mucha gente aquí, y está muy feliz.

A friend comes. Her name is Lucía. "Hello, María!", says Lucía. The two of them talk a little. María knows a lot of people here, and she is very happy.

Después María vuelve a casa. Lleva la comida en la mano. "¡Qué buena mañana!", piensa. Cada mañana es así, y a María le gusta mucho.

Afterwards María returns home. She carries the food in her hand. "What a good morning!", she thinks. Every morning is like this, and María likes it a lot.
