Esperanto · Chapter 11 · Lesson 4 · Grammar primer
Esperanto hodiaŭ
Where the language lives now: the communities, the Wikipedia, the music, and how a self-taught speaker plugs in.
The short version
Retejo: the internet, decomposed
Esperanto met the internet the way it meets everything: with affixes. Reto is a net, retejo a net-place (a website), elŝuti to out-load (download), alŝuti to to-load (upload). The community built its digital vocabulary out of parts you learned in chapter three, which is the language keeping its founding promise.
elŝuti / alŝuti - download / upload
