-- makes a concrete thing out of whatever the root is. From verbs it gives the product or the object: gives o, food; gives o, a drink; gives , a building. From adjectives it gives a thing with that quality, so gives , a piece of news. Always a noun in -o.
The pairing to learn is with --. -- is the thing you can touch, -- the abstract quality, which is why o is a good deed and o is goodness. -- also does the meat trick, turning an animal into what you eat: gives o, beef. aĵo alone simply means a thing.
