- marks the sudden start of an action, so where is to catch, is the abrupt grab that begins it. The prefix is one of the cheapest ways to add colour in Esperanto: becomes , becomes , becomes . All of them mean the same thing, namely the first instant of the verb rather than the whole of it. takes a direct object with -n and works just as happily with an abstract subject, so a feeling can a person exactly as a hand can.
