Word origin
Through Medieval Latin Ungari from a Turkic onogur, said to mean ten arrows, the name of a tribal confederation the Slavs passed westward with an h in front. The Hungarians call themselves magyarok, which is a different word entirely.

is the person, and the country and the adjective are built off it, not the other way round. Add -i- and you get Hungario, the land of the Hungarians; swap the ending for -a and you get hungara, so hungara is Hungarian the language. Esperanto does this for peoples with a history of their own: , , , all work the same way, and the trick is to remember that the human being is the base form.
