Translation
to move emotionally, to touch the heart
Word origin
Built inside Esperanto from koro ('heart') and tuŝi ('to touch'), a compound of two ordinary roots rather than a borrowing. Koro comes from Latin cor and tuŝi from French toucher, so the two halves arrive from different languages and only meet here.

Examples
.
His letter moved me greatly.
.
The song moved everyone in the room.
.
The old woman's words moved me.
This is a compound you can take apart on sight: - from koro plus tuŝi, heart plus touch. It is transitive, so the thing that moves you is the subject and you are the object: , not the English shape "I was moved by the film" unless you turn it round with . Keep it away from movi, which shifts objects across a room and never hearts. The participle kortuŝa is the adjective you want for a moving story.
