Translation
bullet; cannonball, shot
Word origin
From German Kugel, a ball or sphere, which is also the source of the Kugel in Kugelschreiber, the ballpoint pen. Esperanto took the shape word and let the weapon sense follow, exactly as German did.

Examples
.
The ball hit the wall.
.
The soldier put a ball into his old weapon.
.
A heavy iron ball lay on the ground.
The root means ball, and that is why the word covers so much ground.
A musket ball, a cannonball and a modern rifle bullet are all ,
because what the word names is the round thing that leaves the barrel
rather than the cartridge that holds it. Note the split of labour with
: the weapon and the shooter , and the is what flies.
