Esperanto separates two things English happily muddles. A is the physical leaf of paper; a is one side of it. A single sheet torn from a notebook is one folio and two paĝoj, and the distinction matters when you are describing a manuscript.
The word carried over to the web without complaint, so a retpaĝo is a web page and a o is the whole site, -- doing its usual collecting work.
