Bread is a mass noun in English and a countable one in Esperanto, so means two loaves and is perfectly good. For a quantity use , as in . The root is generous with affixes: o is a bakery, o a baker, o a bread roll. Watch the false friend from Romance languages, where the near-identical word is often masculine and singular only. And do not confuse the noun with the verb root pani, which does not exist - to earn a living is , not anything built from bread.
