plus , to take a part. Both constructions are accepted and both are common: with a direct object, or with the preposition. The accusative version is shorter and reads better in a long sentence, and it is what most modern writing uses. Partoprenanto is the participant, and in Esperanto circles it is one of the highest-frequency nouns going, since every congress publishes its list of them.
