Transitive: you shake a thing. If the thing is shaking of its own accord, you want i or , and is the one for shaking with cold or fear. The idiom to unlearn is the handshake. English "shake hands" does not translate as , which sounds like you are rattling it; Esperanto says , press the hand. Figuratively works exactly as English does for news that shakes people, so the last example needs no explanation.
