One word does both English jobs: the physical line of people or objects, and the turn that comes round when you are in it. Vice as an adverb means in turn, and means one after another in order. The prefix - is the part that catches people out, because it means deputy or step-: a vicprezidanto is a vice-president and a vicpatro is a stepfather, neither of which has anything to do with queuing. British English speakers should note that is the neutral word here; there is no separate word for a queue as opposed to a line.
