Comparatives
plus / moins / aussi + adjective + que. The three irregulars meilleur (better), pire (worse), and mieux (the adverb).
The short version
Comparing nouns needs de, comparing verbs does not
Plus, moins and aussi sandwich an adjective, with que after it. Swap the adjective for a noun and the marker takes de, with autant replacing aussi: j'ai plus de livres que toi. Compare a verb and the marker stands alone: je travaille plus que toi. Three structures, one family.
