Position changes the sense. Placed before the noun, plural works almost like a quantifier: "divers témoins" means "various witnesses", "several witnesses". Placed after the noun, it is a plain descriptive adjective: "des opinions diverses" means opinions that are genuinely varied or mixed. The masculine plural spelling never changes from the singular, since already ends in -s.
