Même est un mot polyvalent qui fonctionne comme adjectif, adverbe ou pronom selon sa position. Adjectif avant le nom, il exprime l'identité (le même livre) ; après un pronom tonique, il renforce (moi-même, lui-même). Adverbe invariable, il intensifie ou marque une concession (même les experts se trompent).
La locution quand même (tout de même, malgré tout) est omniprésente à l'oral : c'est quand même dommage. Attention à l'accord : adjectif épithète, même s'accorde (les mêmes erreurs) ; adverbe, il reste invariable (elles sont même arrivées en retard).
