Super est un adjectif et adverbe invariable très courant dans la langue orale et les registres informels, équivalent de très ou excellent. Il fonctionne seul (c'est super !) ou comme intensifieur devant un adjectif (super content, super sympa). Dans un contexte formel, on préférera excellent, remarquable ou très bien.

Supermarché et superlatif utilisent le préfixe latin super- (au-dessus). L'adjectif familier super est d'influence anglaise mais est pleinement intégré au français contemporain. Super ! seul comme interjection d'approbation est très commun. Pas super (not great, so-so) est la négation atténuée : la soirée n'était pas super.
