dignus

Dignus, digna, dignum. First and second declension. The one fact to hold is the case it governs: what you are worthy OF goes in the ABLATIVE, never the genitive. Dignus laude, worthy of praise. Dignus morte, deserving death.

It also takes a relative clause of characteristic with the subjunctive, dignus est qui laudetur, literally "he is worthy, who should be praised", and an infinitive in verse. Its opposite indignus takes the same ablative. Note that dignus is neutral about the direction: it measures desert, good or bad, so dignus morte is not a compliment. Gives dignity, deign, disdain and, by way of dignitas, the dignitary.
