Namque is nam with the enclitic -que welded on, and it means exactly what nam means: for, giving the reason behind what has just been said. The -que has stopped meaning "and", so do not translate it twice.
What separates them is position and rhythm. Nam stands first in its clause almost without exception; namque is happier a word or two in, and prose writers tend to reach for it before a vowel, where the extra syllable sits better. Verse likes it for the same reason. It is a coordinating conjunction, not a subordinating one, so the verb after it stays indicative. Quia and quod are the words that can slide into a subjunctive of reported reason; namque never does.
