pariter

Pariter is the adverb of par, paris, "equal", and it does two jobs that English splits between different words: "equally, in the same way", and "at the same time, side by side". Which one is meant usually falls out of whether there is a second party in the sentence.

It takes ac or atque for the thing compared - pariter ac, "just as" - and cum with the ablative for the company kept. The trap is the ending: -iter looks comparative to an English eye, but pariter is a plain adverb and there is no "pariter than". For "than" you need a real comparative plus quam. Beside it sit aeque, which is nearer "to the same degree" and pairs with atque, and similiter, "in a similar manner", which claims resemblance rather than equality.
