Pars, partis is third declension feminine and an i-stem, so the genitive plural is partium and you will meet an accusative plural partis beside the regular partes. Whatever is being divided goes into the genitive after it, pars militum, part of the soldiers. A plural pars very often means directions or sides rather than pieces, as in omnes partes, in every direction. The stem gives part, portion, particle, partition and party.
