An adverb built on uter, "which of two", so the number is fixed: utrimque always means two sides, never three or more. For "from all sides" the word is undique, and the pair is worth learning together because historians switch between them deliberately.
Utrinque, with the nasal assimilated before the q, is the same word and appears just as often in the manuscripts; treat the two spellings as one. Its natural habitat is battle narrative, where utrimque acriter pugnatum est is close to a formula.
