粉红(fěn hóng) - pink in Mandarin

粉红 (fěnhóng) is pink, built from 粉 (fěn), powder, and 红 (hóng), red, so it reads literally as "powder red", the pale, softened red you get from face powder or diluted dye.

It almost always appears with 色 (sè), colour, tacked on: 粉红色 (fěnhóngsè). 粉红色的衬衣 (fěnhóngsè de chènyī), a pink shirt, is the pattern you will hear far more than 粉红 (fěnhóng) alone before a noun.

粉 (fěn) alone is also the everyday word for noodles made from starch, such as 米粉 (mǐfěn), rice noodles, which has nothing to do with the colour: the link is only that both trace back to fine, pale powder.
