家庭妇女(jiā tíng fù nǚ) - housewife in Mandarin

家庭妇女 (jiātíng fùnǚ) is a "housewife", a woman who runs the household rather than holding paid work outside it. 家庭 (jiātíng) is "family, household" and 妇女 (fùnǚ) is "woman" in the adult, married sense rather than 女孩 (nǚhái), "girl", so the compound names her role within the home.

The word carries a slightly dated, formal flavour in modern Mandarin; younger speakers in casual conversation are just as likely to say 全职妈妈 (quánzhí māma), "full-time mum", which frames the same role more warmly. 家庭妇女 (jiātíng fùnǚ) is still the standard term in official and written contexts, including on the AQA vocabulary list, so it is worth knowing both.

Note that 妇女 (fùnǚ) on its own is a general word for "woman" and is not automatically tied to housework; it is only the compound 家庭妇女 (jiātíng fùnǚ) that specifies the domestic role.
