What the library actually contains
The usual page of free French worksheets is a handful of PDFs surrounded by advertising. This one is the index to a full course's worth, because every lesson in our French curriculum generates its own printable sheets:
- Vocabulary sheets - each vocabulary lesson produces a sheet with a wordsearch built from its words, a word bank and a quick reference, plus a practice and review sheet with a recall drill and a cumulative review of earlier lessons.
- Picture vocabulary sheets - where a lesson's words can be drawn, a label-the-pictures sheet using our illustrations.
- Grammar exercise sets with answers - every grammar guide in the course ships a printable worksheet set generated from its exercises (fill the blank, translate, choose the right form, matching), with a combined answer key on the sheet.
- Verb conjugation drills - every one of our 437 French verb pages has a printable conjugation practice sheet, answer key at the foot. The full conjugation toolkit is covered in French verb conjugation practice.
- Story sheets and PDFs - each graded-reader story ships worksheets (vocabulary, comprehension, gap-fill) plus the story itself as a bilingual PDF and a French-only PDF.
Every sheet is A4 portrait, prints from the browser and saves as a clean PDF. And each one obeys the rule that separates a course from a pile of downloads: it only uses vocabulary its chapter has already taught.
Beginner worksheets, in teaching order
Print in the course's order, not alphabetically:
- Chapter 1 - the first words for building sentences, French word order, and your first graded story. Open chapter 1 and each lesson lists its sheets in place.
- Chapter 2 - articles (le, la, les, un, une and when to use which), noun gender, plurals and the sounds of French.
- From chapter 3 - the present tense arrives, with conjugation drill sheets for -er verbs, -ir verbs and -re verbs, and the beginner walls get their sheets as the chapters reach them: negation, questions, avoir vs être.
Each grammar guide's printables live in the downloads section on the guide itself - for instance the articles worksheets - alongside interactive versions of the same exercises you can do on screen first.
Past the beginner chapters the same structure carries on into the passé composé, the imparfait and the subjonctif, so the worksheets do not run out the month you improve.
Worksheets with answers
A worksheet without an answer key is a quiz you cannot mark. The grammar sets print a combined answer key grouped by exercise; the conjugation sheets print the key at the foot of the page. Teachers who want to hand out questions without answers can simply not print the key section.
French worksheets for adults
Free French worksheets skew heavily towards primary-school material, which is how grown adults end up labelling a picture of a croissant. Ours come from an adult course: frequency-ranked vocabulary, grammar sheets that explain rather than simplify, stories worth reading. If you are an adult beginner, start at chapter 1 - the material assumes intelligence, not prior French.
The full library, and a word to teachers
Every printable in the French course - across vocabulary, grammar, stories and per-word printables - is mapped chapter by chapter with thumbnails on the French teaching resources page. That page is built for teachers: search it, filter by resource type, jump to a chapter, print.
If you teach with these and something is missing - a sheet you need, a format that prints badly - email hello@kilolingo.com. We read every message, and the good ideas get built.
How the downloads work, plainly: reading the site is free, and every printable for chapters 1 and 2 downloads free with no account. From chapter 3 on, the printables are part of Kilo Lingo Plus, which is free for the first week.
Teaching or learning Spanish as well? The Spanish library has the same shape: free printable Spanish worksheets for beginners.
