Ch 47 · Lesson 24

es listo or está listo?

The chapter-2 clinic again, except now the adjective changes meaning too.

The rule

With some adjectives and do not merely shift the emphasis, they change the word: is he is clever, is he is ready. is wealthy, is delicious. is boring, is bored. Same adjective, two different meanings, and only the verb tells you which one you are getting.

Pick the right one

0/6

Pick the right one: es or está.

  1. listo, siempre saca buenas notas.

  2. Ya listo para salir.

  3. Hoy la comida muy rica.

  4. Su familia muy rica.

  5. muy aburrido: siempre cuenta las mismas historias.

  6. aburrido porque no tiene nada que hacer.

You met this in chapter 2. Worth a second look if the drill caught you out.
