At the Doctor

Ben does not feel well. His head hurts. His back hurts too. First he is very hot, and then he is very cold. He is tired all day. He wants to sleep, but he does not sleep well.

His mother looks at him. "You do not look well," she says. "We will go and see the doctor."

They go to the hospital. Ben and his mother wait. Many other people wait too. Ben is afraid. It is his first time at the hospital. He holds his mother's hand. "I do not like to wait," he says. "It will be good," his mother says. "The doctor is kind and good."

A man comes. "Ben?" he says. "Come with me." Ben and his mother go into a room. The doctor is there. She has a kind face and a big smile.

"Good morning, Ben," the doctor says. "How do you feel?" Ben tells her. "My head hurts. My back hurts too. I am hot, and then I am cold. I am very tired." The doctor listens. She is not fast. She looks at his eyes, and she looks in his mouth.

"You have a little cold," the doctor says. "It is not big. Many people have a cold. Do not worry. You will feel well again very soon." Ben feels happy. He is not so afraid now.

"You must rest," the doctor says. "Sleep, and drink much water. Eat good food. In a few days you will feel well again." Ben's mother smiles. "Thank you," she says.

Ben feels much better. His head still hurts a little, but he is not afraid now. The doctor was kind. She listens, and she helps.

Ben and his mother walk home. "The doctor is nice," Ben says. His mother smiles. "Now you will rest, and soon you will play again," she says. Ben is happy. He is not so tired now. He knows he will feel well again soon.
