Story milestone: top 900 words

Mia and her dog Max walk by the sea. The road goes close to the water. The sea is dark. The air is cold. Soon Mia can not see well. It is dark by the sea.

"Come, Max," says Mia. But Max runs away. He runs down to the sea. He runs on the rocks. Mia calls him. "Max! Max!" she shouts. But Max does not come. It is too dark. Mia can not see him.

Mia is afraid. There is trouble by the sea. The water is big and cold. The rocks are cold. The water pulls Max into the sea. Max cries. Mia hears him. Her heart is full of fear.

Mia runs to find help. She sees a guard by the sea. His name is Ben. "My dog is in the sea!" she shouts. "There is trouble!" Ben looks at the water. "Wait here," he warns her. "The rocks are cold. Do not come down."

Ben is strong. He goes down to the sea. He wants to save the dog. He searches the rocks. He calls, "Max! Max!" It is dark. At first he can not find the dog. He fails. But Ben does not stop. He searches again.

Then Ben sees Max. Max is on a rock. The water is deep and cold. Ben goes into the sea. He goes to the rock. Ben holds the rock. He waits. Then he reaches Max. He grabs the dog. "I have you," he says.

Ben goes back with Max. He fights the water. He holds the dog. He does not let the dog go. Mia hopes and hopes. She stands on the road. She waits.

Then Mia sees Ben. He comes out of the sea. He holds Max. Max is cold, but Max is well. Ben did it. He saved the dog!

Mia runs to Max. She holds him. Max is well now. "Thank you," she says to Ben. "You are so strong." Ben smiles. "It was luck too," he says. "But we found him. We did it."

The dark goes. The sun comes out. Mia holds Max. She is so happy. Her dog is home.
