Comprehension drill

4 questions on what you just read. Get one wrong and the story will show you where it says otherwise.

Words by L. L. Zamenhof (1859-1917). The Enciklopedio de Esperanto (1933) records that the poem first appeared in La Esperantisto in 1889; the text here is transcribed from Zamenhof's Fundamenta Krestomatio (1903), pp. 319-321, on Wikisource. The linked recording is Maurits Boeren's acoustic disc for the Esperanto Institute's Esperinst label, cut at Crystalate's London studio on 26 July 1926, which credits the music to an otherwise unidentified 'Suda' (Thomas Preece, 'Esperinst', eomuziko.com). As with La Tagiĝo's untraceable 'Baranski', a credit nobody can identify is treated as anonymous, and an anonymous tune published in 1926 is out of term in the EU (70 years from publication) and the US (published before 1929). The words are out of term on every reading. Source text. Translation ours.
