The listening ladder: what to actually listen to

Start where the transcripts are
Esperanta Retradio has published a short spoken piece nearly every day since 2011, and every episode carries its full transcript beside the audio - listen once, read along once, listen again. It is the single best listening habit an Esperanto learner can build, and it costs three minutes a day.

The film made by a novelist in disguise
The first Esperanto feature film, Angoroj (1964), was made by Jacques-Louis Mahe - the same man who wrote novels as Lorjak. Two years later Hollywood tried it with Incubus, starring a pre-Star-Trek William Shatner in Esperanto the community still teases him about. Watch both once; learn from neither.
